Kornel F. Ehmann (Panel Chair) Dr. Ehmann currently serves as James N. and Nancy J. Farley Professor in manufacturing and entrepreneurship in the department of mechanical engineering at Northwestern University. Dr. Ehmann's main research interests are in the interrelated areas of machine tool structural dynamics, metal cutting dynamics, computer control of machine tools and robots, accuracy control in machining, and micro/mesoscale manufacturing. Dr. Ehmann has published over 150 articles and supervised over 35 Master of Science (MS) and 35 PhD students. Dr. Ehmann is currently the technical editor of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Journal of Manufacturing Science and Engineering (formerly Journal of Engineering for Industry), an associate editor of the Journal of Manufacturing Processes and is serving as president of the North American Manufacturing Research Institution of the Society of Mechanical Engineers (NAMRI/SME). David Bourell Dr. Bourell is associate chairman of administration and research and Temple Foundation endowed faculty in the mechanical engineering department. Dr. Bourell's research interests include deformation processing, powder processing, failure analysis, nanocrystalline materials, the kinetics of sintering, and selective laser sintering. He is the 1999 recipient of the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company Award for Excellence in Engineering Teaching. He has served on the College of Engineering faculty since 1979. Dr. Bourell has had two years of industrial experience and has published more than 100 technical articles and reports. Martin L. Culpepper Dr. Culpepper is the Rockwell International Assistant Professor of mechanical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). His research interests include precision machine design, sixaxis compliant mechanism design, reconfigurable compliant mechanism design, and the design of instruments and equipment for micro- and nanomanufacturing.
